Blizzard of 2009

Before I get into this post I need to throw my husband under the bus (as promised)...you see my DH was not thrilled about my insisting that we get our tree on the Sunday that we did...(see next post)...I promised we wouldn't have to decorate it or anything yet...I just wanted it cut down and at the house.  Wisconsin weather can be a bit unpredictable and we had a relatively nice November so the shovel pictured above was just a matter of time.

This is that time...though very pretty to take pictures of and watch from the warmth of the house this is not ideal conditions for tree hunting....OK...I'll move on now......

This was one of my trees....that's right...ONE...it split right down the middle and fell in the shape of any 'X' under the weight of the snow....17 inches of snow!

This picture wouldn't be that crazy if it were an accumulation of a few weeks of snow...but this was less then 12 hours...impressive!

It was a snow day!  For most of Wisconsin.........

We built a snowman.

And the temperature then dropped to wind chills of below zero....brrrr!  So now Frosty is as solid as a rock and will probably be living in our front yard until July! *sigh*

It was very good packing snow...wet and heavy!

So our last adventure for the day was to build a snow fort...which is now also as solid as a rock.

Hopefully the temperature will rise a little over the weekend so the kids can actually plan in the winter wonderland.

*So glad we got that tree!*
