End of Summer Fun

Devil's Lake holds lots of fond family memories for me~canoe adventures and bluff hiking.
We just haven't made the 45 minute journey in the past two summers.

Instead, we adventured closer to home by exploring Governor Nelson State Park.  A place I hadn't been in decades! We got there around 9 and had the beach all to ourselves.

It really was pretty nice.  The sand was clean and you could see the bottom of the lake.  It was slimy, but you could see it.  The girls could all stand in the entire roped off designated swimming area but preferred to ride in the rings so they didn't have to touch the bottom. I don't blame them!

Another end of summer activity was at Vitense.  

We mini golfed without keeping score~it's better that way for right now!

 We found a climbing wall that had to be conquered!

 Then we found a water balloon game.

 We finished the outside fun with soccer golf.  It was a crazy 9 holes~no keeping score again!

 We finished the fun with ice cream.

 YUM!

What Have I Done????

Somehow, someway, I agreed to let the youngest attend an overnight camping adventure with her girl scout troop.  It sounded great~games, hikes, campfire songs, smores~what's not to love.

Then we got there.

The campsite was across this bridge.

I knew she was going to have tons of fun.

As we left, I realized that the *ahem* bathroom facilities were across the bridge.  So if she had to use the bathroom during the night she would have to cross the bridge. Hence, the What Have I Done???

Did I mention Lacey has been known to sleep walk? WHAT HAVE I DONE????

It took a heavy dose of restraint not to drive back at 9:00 pm and bring her home.  I did not sleep well. My cell phone was right by me in case one of the leaders called.  

Thankfully, my paranoia was unfounded and she survived~other than dozens of mosquito bites!
