Under my breath: Everyone and their grandfather is here today...
Taylor: Why are their grandfathers here?
Me: It's just a saying.
Taylor: So there grandfathers are not here?
Me: No, hon....it just means there are alot of people here.
Makes you really pause and think about the 'sayings' that we use a little bit....like this one from a couple of weeks ago.
Me talking to one of the kids: You sound like a broken record.
Then I turned to Chris and commented that they have no reference point for that phrase. They don't know what a record is more less a broken one.....so I decided that I would need to change the phrase to: you sound like a scratched CD.....I'll have to re-train my brain...it doesn't flow as easily off of my tongue.
Kids...so simple!
