We watched from the safety of our homes as the National News informed us that China was dealing with a new disease in late 2019. We watched and thought "not us". Then our President tried to shut our borders and limit plane travel as we watched Italy dissolve into chaos, hospitals over run and the death toll rising. Then it hit our borders. First case in California. The feeling to be prepared started to simmer. People started bulk shopping, hoarding is more like it. Toilet paper and hand sanitizer flew off the shelf. As China was just starting to recover ; supply and demand struggled. Waunakee went on Spring Break on March 12th and never went back. The initial thought was that we would be out of school until April 3rd. But things never settled down and we finished the 2019-2020 school year learning remotely.
We were all in lock down. Thankfully, Chris was considered an essential worker since he works in air ventilation and I was still teaching so we did not have to worry about losing income. We did have a lot of free time on our hands.
I started doing puzzles.
The weather was turning towards spring so we were able to do some sidewalk chalk art too.
We pulled a second desk into the 'office' so we had some work spaces for learning at home...
...and teaching from home.
As people adjusted to being home a viral movement to decorate your windows with hearts took off. People were encouraged to still walk and be active. The hearts were meant to lift spirits.
The kitty was curious about the new additions to the windows.
