Pandemic Pool

May 16th we committed to an above ground pool.  We assessed the yard and decided that this corner was the flattest.

The official first shovel of sod was removed.

It was a family effort.  Chris and I did the shovel work and the girls moved the sod under the pine trees.

We took breaks.

20 x 20 square feet and 6 hours later

We borrowed a rototiller to break up the dirt so we could even it out more.

Then we put down some outdoor carpet as a weed barrier.

A week later, we got ready for assembly.  First we watched our neighbor assemble theirs (in the background) and then we got ours ready for putting all the pieces on the ground.  We also have an additional black barrier.

  

Went up like a charm!  Then Morgan got it to try and smooth out the bottom.

We added about an inch of water while Molly and Morgan continued working on smoothing out the wrinkles.

It took about 6 hours with two hoses to get it filled up.

So much excitement!  But so cold!  They didn't last very long the first couple of days.

The pool is a fabulous addition to our summer of 2020.  The girls spent a lot of time in the pool for the first few weeks but then they started to taper off.  Chris and I have enjoyed having it just as much if not more than the girls.
