4 Little Ladies: The Dells

Today we did the Dells.

We took the girls on their first 'duck' tour.

These three were excited and happy.

The two I was sitting with were not as pleased. Anxiety~Anxiety~Anxiety

Our driver was a pre-med student at UW Madison....aren't they all? She read her script well and delivered all her puns with just the right amount of sarcasm and dead-pan humor. She did drive a little fast though.....little fingernails digging into my arm....

On water and on land Taylor though it was great.

Lacey even dragged her little fingers in the water for a bit.

We got a little wet on one of the water entries...she drove a little fast. Fingernails gripped a little less by the end of the approximately hour tour...but overall, not a fond childhood memory for my middle two.

Lunch went much better. Hats were big~our food arrived on a train~

And this dead animal watched us eat...well, that wasn't really a highlight.....

After lunch, we went to the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory. What a riot! The place is really deceiving from the outside...it's a maze of hallways and displays with an outerspace theme. We stepped onto an elevator and watched a screen mimic us departing from Earth into outerspace. I'm pretty sure the younger two and possibly the older two really thought we had perhaps left Earth altogether. When we got off the elevator we were greeted by R2D2 and friends.

Then inside there were lots of stations with challenges. This stations challenged Taylor to give careful directions to Molly and Molly to listen carefully to the directions to see if they could build the same picture. They were really close.

There were lots and lots of mirrors. They created depth and illusion all over the place.

This mirror looks like trouble!

Then there were the classic funhouse mirrors. Taylor was cracking up at her short self.

Molly liked her tall self.

Lacey had fun in this room filled with mirrors until she ran SMACK into one of the walls...like a bird hitting a window...there was no more fun in that room after that......

I loved this game as a kid....Simon Says...where the lights make a pattern and you have to repeat the pattern...the game is meant to be played standing up and you step on the colored panels...but Taylor was having a hard time seeing the colors when she was standing so she went in for a closer look.

This activity converted mechanical energy into electrical energy. But the girls couldn't reach the pedals sitting on the bike seats so they are moving the pedals with their hands instead to light up the grid.

We did the VandeGraff machine...where your hair stands up...the girls were all in pony or pig tails today so their hair didn't work very well...mine was pretty good...but no pictures...sorry!
