I accidentally had TWO class pets this fall.

Pet #1~a caterpillar courtesy of Tim 'knowing a guy'

He's getting ready to make his chrysalis

The chrysalis!
7-10 days later!  The chrysalis becomes transparent and you can see the wings through it.  I took this photo at 7:47 when I got to school.  Then I looked away to get ready for the day and.....
...by 8:04 this had happened!  I was so mad I missed it!
It did make for a very exciting morning though!

The drying and full wings took about an hour.
The next day was 'release' day.  I brought all my students outside for the official departure.  There was a good amount of cheering.  I hope Aponi (butterfly in Native American) made it to Mexico!

Taylor and I went back to Olbrich for the Glow Night.  Lots of cool exhibits, fun with the camera ball too!

Second pet of the year, courtesy of the custodian who thought I would like it.  A VERY LARGE praying mantis.

My guided study had fun catching crickets in the garden and watching the praying mantis behead and then eat them.

When I went to release him he didn't want to go.  He kept walking back towards my shoes.

September

Taylor is back in school too!  She is still enjoying the photography program.  She was enjoying capturing the butterflies on the flowers.
She also did some photo shoots for seniors!  Molly and the neighbor Tessa had great shoots!

*************************************

Morgan had her first official halftime shows during the football games.  (She's pretending that she can't hear me calling her name for a picture)

********************************************

Lacey was back on the field for another season of soccer.  She is the oldest on the team so she is working on her leadership skills on the field.  She got to compete on the new Sun Prairie turf field at Ashley Field.

The Sunday of Summer~August

Lacey had a year of virtual band but over the summer she had inperson lessons.  They celebrated the end of summer school with an outside concert.

Mom and her friends met at the Jet Room for breakfast.  Lots of conversations around our first 'real' job working at O'Malley Farm Cafe in the early 90's.  Hashbrowns with cheese and onions were still awesome.  We didn't indulge in the cinnamon rolls as big as your face~but maybe next time.

*****************************************

Back to inperson school for Morgan.  Her first official HS locker but already a Sophomore!

Molly started a job at Leap Academy.  She is working in the 2 year old room and changing a lot of diapers!  She is also allowed to use her work towards graduation credits!  She is enrolled in the coop program and she will take her classes virtually from home for first semester.

Mom is not ready to give up on summer yet.  Taylor and Lacey joined in on a kayak adventure out on Lake Mendota.  It was a beautiful morning, the water was nice a calm and there were very few people on the water at all.  Lacey and I did a double kayak and Taylor did a single.

Morgan and Lacey did some bouncing at the Urban Air Trampoline Park.

Lacey is back to in person school too.  First time in the building~but already an 8th grader.

Good luck on a new school year!
